Description

edit: added more images

My very first custom rig 4 years in the making.

Using this for gaming, game development, video editing, and schoolwork.

Part Reviews

CPU

Amazing processor. Turbos to 3.78 and snappy with no sense of slowdown. Had trouble installing the cooler but it runs the processor at 30 degrees at stock clocks when idle.

Motherboard

High quality budget motherboard with future upgradability! Wish you could change the color of the lights on it though.

Memory

Good memory. Shipped as a 2133 kit but goes to the advertised speed once you enable the XMP profile in the BIOS.

Storage

Used this as a Windows boot drive and installed some applications on it. Boots Windows in only a few seconds. Doesn't show up in the BIOS boot order for some reason but it boots into Windows by default with no need to force the SSD to boot.

Storage

Fast and reliable. Probably the best HDD I have used in terms of performance.

Video Card

This was one of the hardest choices and I'm glad I made the choice I did. I was choosing between this, the 580, a 2060, and a 1070. This is the best way to go if you just want to play 1080p 60+ and you want good support for OpenGL and good power draw as well as having a good price to performance ratio. (If you can find a 6gb card under 200 bucks). If you want to play games at higher resolutions, get one of the cards I specified above. If you want better Vulkan performance than the 1060 at the cost of more power draw, than get a 580 and you'll still have a equally amazing experience.

Case

Very good case with a lot of cable routing holes. Was kinda hard to route the cables of the power supply but that was the fault of the power supply's cables being really stiff more than anything.

Power Supply

Modular power supply and very good from what I heard of the RMx section of power supplies. Comes with a lot of cables however these cables come with in-cable capacitors along with being stiff in general which impeads cable management. Might consider getting less stiff cables in the future.

Operating System

Educational version of Windows 10 I got from my community college. Very nice and speedy however relies too much on cloud settings which resulted in my start menu customization getting wiped after finishing it.

Wireless Network Adapter

Very fast out of the box. Comes with a antenna however you don't really need the antenna unless your router is far away from you.

Case Fan

Cool fan (Literally and figuratively), however the LEDs weren't as bright as I thought they would be.

Keyboard

Very first mechanical keyboard I have ever gotten and I love it. Sometimes wish I went with a Steelseries keyboard to match the mouse but that doesn't matter much.

Mouse

Amazing mouse that feels good in the hand and uses a very accurate sensor. Also the only RGB part in my build until I get a RGB strip.

Food

Chewy gummies with a lot of flavor. That is what Heribo excells at and there's no exception here.

Custom

Good wrist band. Male sure that the clip is on all the way or it'll snap off of it while you are working on something. Kinda unnecessary however if you know how to ground yourself without one.

Custom

Very good screws for the price. Good for if you don't have enough of these from your case.

Custom

These help seal up the back while still providing airflow from the back. Very strong and hard. Recommended.

It's a easter egg PCPartPicker put in. Good category if you want to make a shopping list instead of a computer.

Nice setup, really organized

Thanks! The only thing that's not really organized is the build itself mainly due to the cables on the PSU and it looks a tad messy because of that.

Did you manage to fit in that wifi card? Just wondering didn't see it in the pic xD +1 for the build though

Yeah, it's under the graphics card. It's a fairly small card and the cables for the psu get in the way.
